Year 4 Spring Term
During the Spring term, Year 4 will continue reading ‘The Ice Palace’ and will produce their own narrative. We will be focusing on mapping the story, describing the characters and the settings. We will then look at non chronological reports and biographies by also linking in our curriculum topic ‘I am Warrior!’ This is a historical focus on the Romans in Britain. In English, we will then look at a variety of stories such as ‘Charlotte’s Web’ and ‘Into the Forest’.
In maths, we will continue to work on measurement, shape and fractions. The children will also learn different written methods for multiplication and division and start to apply this to real life problems.
I am strong, brave and powerful! Meet me in battle!
Our Curriculum topic is ‘I am Warrior!’ We will be learning about life in Britain during the Roman invasion. We will link our Maths to the topic by learning about Roman numerals and in Geography the children will compare Britain and Italy, using maps and locational knowledge. We will use a variety of art and design methods to demonstrate our knowledge and also have some exciting visitors into school to help us with our learning!
In Science we will be learning about ‘Human Nutrition’. We will be learning about the different parts of the digestive system. Year 4 will also be looking at the different types of human teeth and their functions. This will involve some investigations and recording results over time.
